Dr. Marquis Hall, Principal

Hickman Mills C-1 School District is proud to announce the hiring of Marquis Hall, Ed.D., as the new principal of the Brooks-Sharp Sixth Grade Center at Santa Fe for the 2026-2027 school year.

Hall brings a strong background in educational leadership, student engagement, and the development of inclusive school culture to HMC-1. He currently serves as assistant principal in the Park Hill School District, where he has helped lead efforts focused on instructional effectiveness, school safety, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) initiatives, Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) programming, and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS).

Prior to his work in Park Hill, Hall served with Kansas City Public Schools as manager of Student Diversity and Inclusion Programs, overseeing mentoring programs serving nearly 2,000 students and collaborating with community partners to support student success and belonging. During his career, Hall has also been recognized as a building-level Teacher of the Year and district finalist for Teacher of the Year.

His experience supporting students, staff, and families will be a tremendous asset as we continue creating outstanding learning environments for our students.”

Hall has also been actively involved in mentorship and leadership development programs throughout the Kansas City metro, including work with Teachers Like Me, the UMKC Institute for Urban Education, and Race Project KC. He is a fellow of Surge Academy, a nonprofit organization focused on developing leaders of color in education, and has participated in national teacher leadership initiatives through BetterLesson.

As principal of Brooks-Sharp Sixth Grade Center at Santa Fe, Hall will focus on fostering academic excellence, strengthening relationships with students and families, and continuing to build a positive and supportive school culture.
